Minus the Greenberg add a Hurd

I did not realize how hard it would be to introduce myself after getting married! It is sort of embarrassing when someone asks you what your name is and you have to think twice. I wonder if people think that I'm lying to them when they ask what my name is and I say, "Hannah Gree.. I mean Hurd." Also, my name went from long to short, so it kind of feels odd that when I introduce myself and it goes by .1 second faster than usual. But other than the few semi awkward moments that I've had recently, married life is the BOMB. Don't get me wrong I LOVE calling Saje my husband (even though it makes me feel so old), but you have to admit fiansaje was just so much more fun (and clever) to say. Saje is not my boyfriend, not my fiance, not my future husband, MY HUSBAND! I've grown up on myself without realizing it! Kind of crazy if you ask me.
My life lately has been a whirl wind. One minute I'm in summer school, the next AZ for dress alterations, then wedding day,  then AZ open house, then my last semester of school started, and today I start teaching again! Time flies when you are having fun (but seriously). I've already been married three weeks and it seems like I haven't even caught up with the times yet! I love it!

Saje spent the whole summer in Kentucky selling security systems for Vivint so that is one reason why we got married a week before school started. Because of that reason, our "honeymoon" was in a Scottsdale resort so that we could be in AZ for our open house. Since last weekend was a three day weekend (Labor Day), we decided to go on a trip to St. George as an extended "honeymoon!" My Grama Jackie lives there and we were able to stay at her house. She works at the Tuacahn and was able to get us tickets to see Hairspray! It was a blast, thanks so much Grama!

Turns out Saje loved it so much that he wanted to see Aladdin as well! So we did. And we liked it. A LOT.

We also decided to do some hiking at the Snow Canyon National Park. We went by ourselves before sunset. Here is Saje with the sage hehe ain't he handsome?!

This is for you Rachie!!! "It's tradition!"- Ever After.

I found out that my friend Jacquie and her new husband Jake were also in St. George!  We went on a double date to hike to some lava tubes the next morning as well.  We tried to top Jacquie and Jake's cool pose, but I'm pretty sure we tied for first.

Saje and I in a lava tube.

I happen to REALLY love this picture of Jacquie and I in one of the tubes! She is cooler than me with her head lamp.

I love having married couple dates!

Later that day we tagged along with Jacquie's family and went to a place called Sand Hollow (or something like that). It was like a beach, and if you swam out to these cliffs, you were able to do some cliff jumping! It was pretty fun, but after a LONG day of hiking and swimming a mile, Saje and I were pretty pooped. Unfortunately I have no document of that adventure so you will just have to imagine :).

The day before we went to St. George, it was the first Utah game of the season! I have fourth row seats this season and need less to say I was pretty dang stoked! I  bet your mascot never pulled a Queen Elizabeth and sky dived (dove?) into the stadium.

Oh and I yelled out this guys name and he waved at me. Saje got a picture of me being really happy about it after the fact. I love hangin out with Pres. Uchtdorf.

Also, we found my bestie Carolyn at the Brigham City Temple open house! The temple is REAL close to Saje's home town so I have a feeling we will be there often :).

Mr. and Mrs. Hurd

Being married is so much fun! It is like being on a hot date 24/7. Soon I will be posting wedding footage so hold tight!

PS Saje and I are wanting to plan something fun for October break because we have free night stay wedding vouchers to lots of places! Let us know if you have any bright ideas, it can be most places in the US.

Later.

Celebrating Independence

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while! You probably didn't miss me that much. All I think about these days is how relieved I am that the most difficult decision I've ever had to make is finally over,  and that I am so in LOVE, and SO READY to get married.

There are a just few things on my mind right now on this Independence Day.

1. I am celebrating my last MONTH being an independent individual. After this month, no more bed to myself. No more singles ward (hallelujah). No more making decisions completely on my own. No more living with just girls. No more having my own stuff. No more having to say goodbye to Saje at night. No more virgin eyes (just laugh, it's funny). No more last name I've had my whole life. No more me, myself, and I. No more "for MYYY wedding I'm gonna..." No more wondering who the father of my kids will be. No more not knowing how to cook (help!). No more a lot of things! AM I PREPARED FOR THIS?!?! "Been plannin' it for years" -Squints Palledorous. But seriously, I'm so nervous and happy and ready to take it alllllllll on. It will be the start of a really awesome adventure. Bring it.

2. I LOVE THE FOURTH OF JULY! I love being an American (even though I wish I had a British accent). I remind myself every. single. day of my weird accent, even if it might be a "Utah" accent, whatever that means. Anyways, I notice that I pronounce Mountain without a T in the middle. That goes for almost any word that doesn't start with a T: bit, favorite, let, hit, kitten, Ute. You get the point. Maybe I say comfterble instead of comfortable or famlee instead of family. No wonder British people think American's speak dirty! I just can't help it though. I'm American. Born and raised by Utahan's. Better celebrate or something. So here I am just loving the fourth of July, especially in a cooler state. I love the smell of grass, barbeques, friends, family, games, fireworks, and just plain fun ok? It reminds me of the Colorado years. I really hope Saje is prepared for a party-er for a wife. I want to be the ones that people say, "Not only are they super hot together, they are so fun like... All of the time." I'm not saying that because I crave attention (but really that isn't it), I really really love inviting people over and socializing and just having fun and just whatever! Have you not seen my awesome birthday parties every year? I don't know why I'm trying to convince you. I'm Hannah and I like to party, and I love America. End of story.

3. Saje and I haven't seen each other for 60 days. Distance is stupid. Good thing it's for good reason, but never again. I'm not counting down the days. Not really....

Guilty: 31 days til I see Saje again, 40 days til Mrs. Saje Steven Hurd. Let's get the show on the road already! I miss him :(

4. So I'm in the midst of planning a wedding did you know? There are some things I'll need your opinions about afterwards though. Should I get a new blog? It's gonna end up being posts about Saje and I all over the place anyways. My only thought is that I'm gonna be the one that writes in it. It will  still be my thoughts you know? Maybe I'm just sad that I won't use the cool blog name I made up.

Also, how long does it really take to transfer EVERYTHING to your new last name? Years or what? It seems like that would be a pain. I'm gonna get a new email address and I just realized that there are so many things that I need to link to it now. Ew.

I wasn't kidding about not being able to cook. I can bake kinda, cook though? I need fancy tips! Does anyone wanna teach me things I should probably know before I throw myself at making good non poor college student dinner? Poor Saje.

5. Lastly, I miss my two besties. The girls who are going to be my bridesmaids in spirit. They are both serving missions now, and I am so lucky to have such amazing spiritual friends! Writing them is fun, but what happens when I need to talk to them NOW you know? It's hard being me without my gals, especially when Saje is out of town too. They think I'm funny. It sucks when they aren't here to hear my funny jokes, I can't even tell them over the phone! Thank goodness for letters though!

6. Soon I will be posting pictures of my fabulous trip to Seattle. I want to get a few more pictures edited so I will get back to that a little later!

Happy Independence Day!

Sneaky Sneaky

I'm not a fan of posting a BAJILLION pictures on Facebook as it is, but one thing that drives me a little crazy is when people put all of their engagements on Facebook BEFORE they have sent out their invites. I look forward to seeing how cute their engagements are, and then when I get the invite and have already seen all of their pictures. It's like well, I've already seen that! Keep in mind that I'm at the age where everyone and their dog is getting married so I notice these things.

Moving on, Saje and I had to do our engagements QUICK because he is leaving this week for Kentucky to sell security (ps the "Hannah Fly To Kentucky Fund" is active 24/7). We got very lucky with our engagements. A guy did a free shoot with us because he needed some pictures for his portfolio, and then I got a great deal on another photographer from the Wedding Expo. April Bladh made all of my wildest dreams come true! Here is a teensy tinsy sneak peek of how made for each other Saje and I really are.

Oh and I hate to brag but check out the awesome egg I made on Easter. BEAT THAT DALLIN!

We love each other ok?

Who's that girl? Who's that girl????? It's Jess.

Yes I got a haircut. I'm still unsure how I feel about it. I was feeling very spontaneous. Just a new summer do.

Thanks to Leslie and Peter again for letting us come for Easter!

Me Without You

Guess what!? I never thought I would ever say this but....

I am so dang happy I will be spending eternity with Mr. Saje Steven Hurd. Hannah Hurd just rolls off of the tongue doesn't it? I suppose you wanna hear the story and how this charming man proposed so here it goes.

HOW WE MET:
Let's rewind to around March 10, 2010. The one and only Utah basketball game I have EVER gone to because my roommate and I were SO BORED. It was BYU vs UTAH so it was a "big game" even theough BYU creamed us (note to self Utah sucks at basketball). We didn't want to sit in the student section because there were hardly any seats left so we hiked up to the top where it looked like there were a few available seats. We went to sit down a few seats in front of these two boys, but were afraid we might be stealing someones spot. The boys noticed that we were contemplating sitting there and one said, "You can sit by us, nobody is sitting here..." Little did I know, I would possibly marry this guy. We agreed to sit by them and they introduced themselves to us. I remember thinking that Saje was a very different name. I sat next to Saje's step brother Koy who was friendly, and talked to my roommate and I the whole time. Saje (who was involved in the game) hardly talked to us. After the game, they said they were glad to meet us and left. Here I'm thinking, "HELLOOO were we not cute enough for them to ask for our numbers?!" You snooze you lose! Sheesh.

Luckily, as fate would have it, Saje got a second chance. On a Sunday afternoon, (a week or two after the basketball game) I went up to my bishops office for an interview. There were a ton of people up there and one open seat. The person sitting next to the open seat offered me a seat by him. After he asked, I thought to myself, this guy looks SO FAMILIAR. It was after he turned to me and said, "Hi I'm Saje" that it clicked that he was the guy who offered me a seat at the basketball game. Jeez he is such a gentleman right? Always offering the seats next to him. But that is besides the point. ANYWAYS, after he said, " Hi I'm Saje" and it clicked that he was the one who offered me and my roommate a seat at the game (cause really who could forget that name?), I said, "I know you are.." When he got this SUPER confused look on his face, I said, "We sat by each other at the basketball game a few weeks ago.." and then he remembered me! We exchanged numbers and not only sat by each other in sacrament, but texted the whole day. We started going to the ward activities and hanging out a little bit. The week after our "love at second site" it was Spring Break. What are the odds that we were BOTH going to be in California? He drove with some friends, and I flew and met up with family. We tried to plan Disneyland on the same day because the odds that the places we were staying were close were very slim, considering California is a huge state. When I arrived in California, he asked where I was staying, and we found out that his friends house, and my sisters house, were only 2 miles away from each other. What are the odds? I mean seriously? We hung out almost every night, and went to Disneyland together. When we got home, he finally asked me out on an official date. Ever since then, we have been dating off and on (the off times were when he would be gone for four months of the summer selling security).

TWO YEARS LATER:
I finally figured out through a lot of prayer, fasting, stress, thinking, going to the temple, deleting my Facebook, and giving myself alone time, that I knew that I could not live without Saje. I mean let's get real, what are the odds that I needed a seat two times and Saje was always the one sitting there, we ended up being in the same ward, and being two miles away in Cali was just crazy! Saje always would say jokingly, "IT'S A SIGN!!!!" ha, it's true they were.

Saje has always helped me through my struggles, he has been there for me in my hard times, and cared for me when I was sick or sad. His patience helped me understand what the meaning of being in love was. It's about overcoming struggles and hard times, enjoying all the good times, and loving each other through the annoyed times. Even though I wasn't fully ready to commit, he gave me my space, after doing everything in his power to make sure I was happy. I could never forget about how amazing he truly was to me, how much fun we had, and how much he helped when I needed it. Therefore, I finally agreed that marrying him was the best thing I could ever do :).

THE PROPOSAL:
First of all, two weeks before he proposed, we went to Sierra West to discuss the types of rings we liked. We ended up designing "the perfect ring" by putting all of the things we loved into one ring. They told us that we needed to come a week from that day to look at a wax mold of the ring we designed to make sure it was exactly what we wanted before they actually made it. When we went to go see the mold, it looked exactly how we wanted, so we went ahead and told them to cast it! They told us it could take up to three weeks to make. Little did I know, a week and a day later it would be on my finger!

So April 5, 2012 Saje and I were watching movies after school, while I was doing some planning. He is an avid gym goer and said that he was planning on going to the gym for a few hours with a friend. I love that Saje is so buff and fit, but he sometimes gets hung up at the gym because he plays basketball after he works out FOR HOURS! I was really hoping that he wouldn't go for so long, but he promised me he would only be a few hours. He said if I let him go he would take me to get ice cream after. I agreed OBVIOUSLY. So a few hours later he came back and we were on our way to Iceburg.

While we were in the drive through waiting for our mini Grasshopper shake, I noticed there was a trash can about five feet away from the car. He bet me that I couldn't make it if I tried to throw something in there. I took the bet and started searching the car for something I could throw. I hurried and opened the glove compartment and this cute little book fell out.

I immediately found out that I had unleashed something that was supposed to have been a surprise for later, but I thought it was so cute of him to sneakily buy me a cute book, and I had no idea how he got it (because we spend almost every second together) that I started to cry. PS he knows I love this cute children's book called "I Like You" by Sandol Stoddard because it reminds me of all of the people in my life that I love and it makes me cry, so he bought this one knowing that it would remind me of him. That is why I thought this surprise book was such a cute thing he did for me. ANYWAYS, he then said, "well that was supposed to be your surprise for about 10 minutes from right now..." So that made me feel a little better because I thought I was ruining a surprise that was supposed to be happening a week from then. After we got our shake and started driving, he told me to start reading the book. The book is so cute, that I have to share it with you.

"Me without you is like, a sky without blue.
A foot without shoe, hair without do.
Cow without moo, dove without coo.
Kung without foo, biker without tattoo.
Ghost without boo, morning without dew.
Restaurant without menu, eskimo without igloo.
Tango without two, party without yahoo.
Peak without view, much without ado.
Harry without You-Know-Who, paddle without canoe.
Chimney without floo, clock without cuckoo.
Cat without mew, detective without a clue.
Kanga without roo, doctor without who.
Wreck without rescue, zoo without gnu.
How without do you do, antique without value.
Rainbow without hue, tea without brew.
Picnic without loo, bells without blue.
Cock without a doodle doo, pool without cue.
Doctor with flu, cook without his sous.
A witch without her brew, yacht without crew.
Mowgli without Baloo, shoo-bee without doo.
Politician without issue, saint without virtue.
Mercenary without coup, Svengali without Ingenue,
Ballerina without tutu, Kubalai Khan without Xanadu.
An unfinished haiku, ram without ewe.
Coochie without coo, yabba without dabba doo.
Muscle without sinew, sneeze without a-a-a-achoo!
Disciple without guru, potty without poo.
Cold fondue, panda without bamboo.
A picture that's askew, a flat kazoo.
A non spicy vindaloo, a book that's overdue.
A knot I can't undo.
Boo hoo hoo hoooooooooo, me without you?! What would I do? Boo! Phew." :)

Once I finished the book he was just parking at Sugarhouse Park. This is considered "our park" because this is where we would have our long talks, break ups, make ups, and where we would go fly kites and have picnics. I told him thank you so much for the cute book, and he said he wanted to give me a hug. We walked out to the front of his car, and while we were hugging he told me reasons why he loved me and that he can't imagine how life would be without me. Then he said that the book was not my only surprise for the night, and he got down on one knee and asked me to marry him!!! I was shocked because I was expecting my ring to take two more weeks to be finished! Basically I love Saje so much, so I SAID YES!!

I later found out that his "two hour gym visit" was actually going to pick up my ring, and book, that little sneaky!

Here is the bling

We are so engaged right now, I even put our song as #1 on my playlist.

4th Time's A Charm

This weekend. I saw my most favorite band Fun. for the fourth time. Get over it. Here is the story:

Kelli had an extra ticket for the acoustic show at Graywhale Records. I introduced Kelli to Fun., so I commandeered Kelli's extra ticket to the acoustic show. That's only fair right? I wanted to go to the acoustic show (AND SIGNING) because #1 I waited too long to get my ticket to the concert that was going to be later that night, and it was sold out, so I was bummed and #2 ACOUSTIC SHOW AND SIGNING, I would get to meet them! Of course I invited myself!
I found out that another band called Avalanche City was going to be at the concert too so I was even more bummed that I couldn't go to the actual concert. Anywho, I was expressing to Saje how sad and jealous I was that I couldn't be at the concert (which was also the night of the priesthood session) and he surprised me with a ticket that he bought on KSL! He said that he didn't want me to be a loner while he was at priesthood. Isn't he just the best?

Here is a recap of all of the Fun. times I've had (no pun intended):

Sophomore year at the U

Sophomore year at The Venue

Acoustic show yesterday at Graywhale Records:)

In line to meet them.

Here is the deal. This one time my awesome sister gave me a Harry Potter Lanyard. I hooked it up to my camera. I had this brilliant idea to video myself meeting the band members. I turned my video on and just let it hang around my neck. I didn't realize how perfect the video would be. It isn't even cutting anyone's heads off!!!!! I think you could say I could be on a first name basis with Andrew, Nate, and Jack now. What sucks is that I was in shock a little bit (cause I was so excited) that afterwords I thought of all of these great things I could have done or said to them. I'll need to practice a little better before I meet the Harry Potter cast someday. We were only allowed to get one thing signed but I weaseled myself outta that one. Check it out! PS you might have to turn your head to the right...

http://youtu.be/h1ug6QH3hQM

4th time's a charm (as Nate said in the video) at The Venue. Unfortunately we let Jack down by not getting to the front row. It was WAY too packed and I wasn't feeling like fighting someone.

Thanks for allowing me to invite myself Kelli!

Until we meet again Andrew, Nate, and Jack!
